Kapellenrundweg Lauperath - Route 1

Arzfeld

The Lauperath Chapel Trail - Route 1 offers you an exciting hike through a picturesque landscape and dense forests. This varied tour connects the three charming chapels in Lauperath, Krautscheid and Bellscheid and allows you to experience not only nature but also the cultural history of the region up close. Informative stations await you on your hike, providing valuable insights into the history and significance of these spiritual places.

The circular trail starts in Lauperath at the chapel of the three holy virgins Fides, Spees and Caritas, which was probably built around 1450. The trail continues through the gently undulating landscape, which is characterized by meadows and forests, to Krautscheid to the 2nd stop: the branch church of St. Valentin. The medieval choir church is located in the center of the village not far from the L 10 from Waxweiler to Neuerburg, the old pilgrimage route to Echternach in Luxembourg. An informative display gives an insight into the history of this church and its significance for the region.

The route continues to Bellscheid to the Church of the 14 Holy Helpers, which is also a pilgrimage station on the Way of St. James to Santiago de Compostela. The showpiece of the chapel is a Baroque-style columned altar with a painting of the Fourteen Holy Helpers.

From Bellscheid, the route leads back to Lauperath. On the way back, a biotope offers a beautiful view of the Prümtal municipality of Waxweiler.
