The 87 can be combined with the 86 hiking trail or walked as an "eight", as both are parallel along the Mühlbach. This path essentially goes around the crest, which is formed by the Mühlbachtal and Mandelbachtal west of Waxweiler. An extended rest in the small and very well-kept village of Manderscheid is recommended.
