1. Wanderung der Wanderwoche Südeifel 2026: "Wasser, Wald & Wein - auf den Spuren des Plattener Däwels"
Description
Includes refreshments during the hike, a hiking guide, and a regional meal after the hike
Shady forest trails, narrow footbridges over the Steinbachgraben in Plattener Schweiz, and the history of the Plattener Däwels are just a few of the spectacular highlights that make for a delightful hiking experience during the 2026 Südeifel Hiking Week
The approximately 7.5-kilometer guided hike along the Plattener P3 loop trail successfully combines cultural and hiking experiences. It reveals interesting facts about winegrowing in the Liesertal Valley, and knowledgeable guides entertain participants with traditional tales about the Plattener Däwel. The hike begins on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Görgen Winery in Platten. The route winds through the impressive “Plattener Schweiz” landscape, following unspoiled forest trails and narrow footbridges over and along the Steinbachgraben, then along a section of the Lieserpfad trail, and finally back to the village alongside the famous Moselle tributary. The wine shop and the Winzerhof Café at Winzerhof Görgen are the destination for a group stop to enjoy a hearty serving of Platten’s spicy “Teufelsbraten” (Devil’s Roast).
Directions
The starting point of the guided loop hike is the Winzerhof Görgen in Platten. From here, the trail first leads into the “Plattener Schweiz.” The unspoiled forest trails and narrow footbridges over the Steinbachgraben are among the most beautiful highlights of the fourth stage of the Lieserpfad, from Wittlich to the Moselle. Following the P3 hiking trail, the route soon continues alongside the Lieser River; it crosses the Maare-Mosel Bike Path and passes the water level station before returning to the wine-growing village for a group stop at the Winzerhof Görgen.
