Arzfeld
Cycling along a railroad line in the Eifel, picnicking by the lake and riding through tunnels - the cycle tour along the Prüm and Enz cycle path is a leisurely day trip. You start in Prüm and the cycle bus takes you back.
There are around 54 kilometers to cycle - a nice route for a day trip. There is even enough time to take a look at the St. Salvator Basilica in Prüm before the tour.
It is a leisurely cycle tour, as a large part of the route runs along a former railroad line with a slight downhill gradient. The bikes roll all by themselves. You pass the Eifel-Zoo Lünebach and cross the Euscheider Viaduct.
Between Üttfeld and Arzfeld, the view over the wild Islek: the barren ground produces gorse and thorn bushes. We enjoy the scenic beauty of this plateau, which stretches all the way to Luxembourg. Cyclists are allowed to stop and pull out their cameras, because the views are wonderful. A picnic break at the Arzfeld reservoir is a good idea, as the lake is right next to the cycle route.
The railroad line continues downhill through the Enz valley to Neuerburg. But before reaching the town with its castle and medieval townscape, two tunnels await the cyclists. Turn on the lights and ride through the dark tunnel - an exciting experience. At the end of the tour, the EifelLux cycle bus takes you back to Prüm from Arzfeld in comfort.
